Why does my roof have ugly black stains or streaks?
Black streaks on your roof are usually caused by an algae called Gloeocapsa Magma. The algae is a living organism that thrives by feeding on the roofing materials that protect your home. They will generally make their home on the North side of your roof, as this is the area that delivers the optimum amount of shade and moisture, which the algae need to live and grow.
Could the black stains cause damage?
Yes, Cleaning a roof can be less than $500 (for most houses) but, if left untreated, the damage caused by the algae can lead to a roof that needs to be totally replaced and this can cost you form $5,000-$10,000 or more. Worse still, the algae can spread to other parts of the property, such as gutters, painted areas, and pavers, causing even more costly damage.
Will high pressure cleaning going to harm my roof?

If your shingles are not lifting, your roof is not leaking, and the granules are mostly intact then there is absolutely no reason to replace your roof. Yes, we can. But it is highly recommended to avoid a partial cleaning and treatment. The untreated sections most likely already have bacteria and algae spores you cannot see. These spores will travel to the treated roof sections and expedite contamination and re-growth.
